Skylar Curtis

About the Instructor

Skylar Curtis began dancing at the age of 6 at the Lake Placid School of Ballet and Dance. During her years at the school, Skylar trained in the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum. She furthered her training in a variety of disciplines including ballet, pointe, modern, jazz and musical theater. She continued her dance training in college. Skylar earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance from Rutgers University where she studied with John Evans, Jeff Friedman, Ani Javian, Julia Ritter and Pam Tanowitz. She also studied in Israel under Noa Tsuk of Batsheva Dance Company, where she was introduced to Ohad Naharin’s Gaga technique, and studied with Vertigo Dance Company’s Noa Wertheim.

While at Rutgers, Skylar held the position of Dance Coordinator and Resident Choreographer of the Livingston Theater Company. She led student musical theater and dance outreach programs as well as choreographing and performing in an array of musical productions including Cabaret, She Loves Me, The Addams Family, Sweet Charity and Cinderella.

In her teaching, leadership and performance experience, Skylar aims to create a learning environment that encourages creativity, is positive, fun, and exciting while still working to improve the students skill-level. Skylar loves to share her passion for dance with her students and wants to ensure that they always feel safe, encouraged, intellectually stimulated and are inspired to lead with curiosity.
