Joan Gignoux

Joan’s family, starting with her grandparents, have been coming to Lake Placid winter and summer all her life; Joan and her husband Reg own a camp which their children and grandchildren use. She grew up in the suburbs of NYC, but has been a resident of Shelburne VT for over 40 years. She received her B.A. from Wheaton College and her M.S. in Library Science from the University of Michigan. She has been a photo librarian for Associated Press, and a freelance writer/editor/poet for small publications. She has served on many boards as a member or officer, including the American Diabetes Association, The Pierson Library, the Lake Placid Institute, the Vermont Humanities Council, and Woodbury College; she was a board member of Champlain College for a total of 23 years. She believes the LPCA will become the most important center for the arts in the Adirondacks.
