The Nutcracker Ballet Auditions

Celebrate the 2024 Holiday Season by joining the cast of The Nutcracker – a holiday tradition for the entire community!


Performances

Lake Placid: November 30 and December 1 at Lake Placid Center for the Arts
Plattsburgh: December 7 and 8 at Strand Center for the Arts


Rehearsals

Older Dancers: Weekends in September, October, and November
Younger Dancers: Weekends in October and November
Please note all dancers must be available the week of November 25 (excluding Thanksgiving Day).


Dancer Audition Information

Female Roles

Audition times are divided by age:


Ages 5-8

Sign-in at 9:45 am. Auditions begin at 10:15 am. Youngest dancers may be released before older ones.

Ages 5-8 Registration



Ages 8-11

Sign-in at 10:30 am. Auditions begin at 11:00 am.

Ages 8-11 Registration



Ages 12+

(soft slipper and en pointe)
Sign-in at 12:30 pm. Auditions begin at 1 pm.

Girls who have been en pointe more than 2 years, please bring pointe shoes.

Male Roles and Adult Roles: TBA for a later date


If you would like to be considered for a role but have a conflict with auditions, please email Tara Palen. We are happy to arrange a way for you to still be considered for a role!


Important Audition & Production Information

  • If your child is part of the production, we ask one parent or family member to sign up for a Parent Volunteer Committee. Parent Committee sign ups will happen early in the rehearsal process – we will reach out with more information on each committee and what is expected.
  • Please be ready to dance at the audition and wear clothes you can move in.
  • The LPCA believes dance is for everyone and welcomes dancers to audition for any role regardless of gender.
  • Auditions for non-dancing roles will be held at a future date.
  • Dancers of all styles and abilities are invited to attend.
  • Formal dance training or being currently enrolled in a training program is encouraged but not required. Non-dancers who skate or do gymnastics are also welcome to attend!
  • There is a $25 costume fee per costume for the production. If this a barrier to your potential participation, please let us know.
