Throw Color Caution to the Wind: Part 1

with Cynthia Rosen

Thursday, October 15, 5:00-7:00pm EDT

Join Cynthia Rosen as we throw (COLOR!) caution to wind in October. This first session will focus on adding fabricated structures to a landscape. Cynthia will be using oils and will demonstrate using a mix of brush, knife and the use of the wedge. We'll be using an image that's great for any medium! This class is geared toward advanced beginners and up, but beginners are encouraged to join in to watch and then practice off the class video that will be available for approximately 2 weeks.

*Unless otherwise noted: It is suggested that artists stain their board an orange tone prior to the workshop. Cynthia will use #8 and #4 brushes, a palette knife, and wedge in the demos, with the palette knife as a primary tool. Added brushwork is included upon request.*

Recommended Supplies

  • Canvas, panel or heavy watercolor paper (if using water-based medium) - suggested sizes: 11x14, 12x16, square if you want, or 16x20 optional
  • Suggested paint colors for oils, acrylics, gouache: titanium white, prussian blue or thalo blue, purple dioxizine, cobalt blue or ultramarine, alizarin permanent, cadmium red medium, cad orange, lemon yellow or cad yellow light

Note: if using acrylics, Cynthia suggests having some gesso on hand if your brand of white is not very opaque.
