Painting a Country Scene

with Cynthia Rosen

Thursday, July 2, 5:00-7:00pm EDT

Cynthia Rosen will guide you in painting an idyllic country scene using a reference image and your medium of choice! Cynthia will demonstrate palette knife techniques for those interested in learning to manipulate oil paint with a knife, as well as techniques to use with acrylics or watercolor.

Recommended Supplies:

  • A medium-small painting surface, 11x14 or 12x16 (16x20 if you work fast and want to go larger)

For oil:

  • 2 soft brushes (brights) size $6 (one for dark colors and one for light colors)
  • RGM #50 palette knife or something similar (if you choose to use a knife)
  • Gamsol/galkyd mix as a medium (you can use liquid or other medium of choice)
  • Palette and paints
  • Rag or paper towels for cleaning the brushes (be aware of how to dispose of these - they can be flammable depending on the solvent/medium you use)

For acrylics or watercolor:

  • 3/4" wide soft flat brush (feel free to add a smaller one or several)
  • Palette and paints
  • Large container of water
  • Rag or paper towels
