Class Description:
This week we will explore value studies and how values can be used to sculpt an image or compose a design. Using the image below we will go from it's interpretation in a notan through to a full range of values. We will explore losing or hardening edges and how that changes an image. Any medium on whatever size surface you are comfortable with. Please have at least 3 surfaces to work on. This is a real learning process. This will be helpful as we get into more complex imagery moving into the Fall.
Suggested Materials:
Titanium white, prussian blue or thalo blue, purple dioxizine, cobalt blue or ultramarine, alizarin permanent, cadmium red medium, cad orange, lemon yellow or cad yellow light (Note: If using acrylics, Cynthia suggests having some gesso on hand if your brand of white is not very opaque)
Brushes: #5, 9, 12, or whatever you are used to
Palette Knives: RGM #46 and/or #50 or equivalent shape in other brands
paper towels, water, brush cleaner, surface of choice to paint on - please have at least 3
