LPCA's Spring Juried Show: Inspired by Great Artists
Lake Placid, NY: The Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LPCA) is proud to present a themed juried show this spring, Inspired by Great Artists. This show is designed to celebrate the talents of our regional artists, highlighting the creative visions of residents in and around New York's North Country in a way that is different from the typical juried show.
Artists have been invited to take a specific technique, work of art or entire body of work from an artist that inspires them as the foundation for a new piece that pays tribute to that artist. Masters of any medium are fair game for this project, from poetry to architecture and beyond. The exhibit will highlight all types of interpretations, whether figurative, literal or thematic.
The works selected will provide a glimpse into the mind of each artist, offering insight into the colors, shapes, sounds and stories that gave rise to a newly created piece of art. As Jon Donk, Director of Gallery 46 explains, "it's a unique chance to see what else motivates and inspires artists beyond their surrounding environment – a source of inspiration that may be more familiar to us, especially in the Adirondacks."
The public is invited to attend a free opening reception for the exhibit on Thursday, February 27 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, including refreshments and the announcement of prizes awarded for first, second and third place. The show will hang in the Gallery @ LPCA through April 11.
Works are still being accepted from 1-5pm February 20, 21 & 22 at the Gallery @ LPCA (17 Algonquin Drive, Lake Placid). More information including prospectus and entry forms can be obtained by calling the LPCA Box Office at 518.523.2512 or online at www.lakeplacidarts.org/gallery/upcoming-shows/juried-show-inspired-great....
