Koresh Dance Company Will Share Compelling New Work at the LPCA
Lake Placid, NY: The Lake Placid Center for the Arts is proud to present Koresh Dance Company on Thursday, February 28 at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $10 in advance/ $15 at the door.
About the Company
Koresh Dance Company was founded in 1991 by Israeli-born choreographer and artistic director Ronen (Roni) Koresh. Known for its engaging performance and technically superb dancers, the company performs critically acclaimed works at its biannual Philadelphia seasons, as well as in touring performances around the country. Over the years, Roni has developed a vast repertoire of work that ranges from explosive and passionate to intimate and restrained.
The current tour includes Inner Sun, featuring the stunning choreography of Artistic Director Roni Koresh to commissioned music pairing composer John Levis and poet Karl Mullen. Inspired by the parallel between the earth's core and that of the human body, this work celebrates the human spirit’s ability to create the warmth and power that drives our journeys. The result is a delicious buffet of potent rhythmic music and dance. Inner Sun illuminates the stage with joy as the dancers move from sweeping circles to strong stage formations using body percussion, gestures and rhythms drawn from Koresh’s folk roots and the human experience.
Free Preview Lecture
The community is also invited to attend a free preview lecture by the company on Wednesday evening, February 27th at 7:30 PM in the LPCA theater building. This hour-long event will feature a lecture and discussion about how music influences the feelings evoked by movement, including a mini-performance by three members of Koresh Dance Company. While in Lake Placid, the company will also offer a matinee program for local schools.
This engagement of Koresh Dance Company is made possible through the ArtsCONNECT program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
