A collaboration between two worlds; ballet and juggling.

Tracing pathways in space, four jugglers and four ballet dancers share a stage for the first time.

Both these formalised systems are ephemeral journeys through time and space, leaving an unseen trace, like an imaginary architecture. 4 x 4 is a celebration of where these paths meet. This seasons sees the sensational Gandini Juggling returning to its love affair with pure patterns and mathematics with 4x4. Following the international success of Smashed, this new work takes us on fleeting journeys through time and space in a unique dialogue between jugglers and ballet dancers.

Gandini Juggling

Formed in 1992 by world­renowned jugglers Sean Gandini and Kati Ylä-­Hokkala, Gandini Juggling continue to be at the vanguard of contemporary circus, reinventing and reinvigorating juggling for the 21 st century. Gandini celebrates juggling in all its facets, exploring not just what juggling is, but what juggling can be. Ferociously prolific, Gandini are constantly creating new work that ranges from edgy visual art experiments to family friendly entertainment; from narrative infused dance escapades to humorous shenanigans. An ever­evolving ensemble of virtuosic juggling performers, producing everything from elegant duets to 20­strong choral pieces.

Lake Placid Center for the Arts

The Lake Placid Center for the Arts is a year-round performing and visual Arts Facility.  Located in the Adirondack Park of Northern New York, the LPCA consistently presents arts of the highest caliber in music, dance and theatre performances, film exhibitions and visual arts presentations. 

In addition, the Arts Center provides special arts-in education programs, workshops and residencies for aspiring and renowned artists.

The Arts Center is the home of the Lake Placid School of Ballet, LPCA Children's Theatre, Community Theatre Players, as well as the Summer home of the Lake Placid Sinfonietta.
