Class Description:

Looking for a fun intro to the world of theatre? Look no further! This camp will focus on building confidence, having fun, and exploring imagination as a team through improv, movement, & acting. Learn basic theatre skills and terminology to help build a solid foundation for a lifelong appreciation of live performing arts. Join old friends and theatre professionals Nick Attanasio & Tara Palen for this fun filled week.

Nick Attanasio is LPCA's Production Manager and the former head of theatre programming at Clarkson University and Farmingdale State College. Some favorite roles as an actor include Judas in Godspell, Tom Morgan in the World Premiere of Treasure Island the Musical, and Stewpot in South Pacific. Nick is also a published playwright of the Off-Broadway shows 2 a.m. and Extra Innings, and is and accomplished director.

Tara Palen is LPCA's Director of Education & Outreach. Before that, Tara has played managerial and artistic director roles for Pendragon Theatre, Broadhollow Players, and O'Neill Studio Theatre as well as running a theatre arts academy on Long Island for over a decade. As a dancer and actress, favorite roles include Nellie in South Pacific, Vicky in Noises Off, Gladys in Pajama Game, and Lolly in the East Coast Premiere of The Cat's Meow for the late Ed Dennehy.

Lake Placid Center for the Arts

The Lake Placid Center for the Arts is a year-round performing and visual Arts Facility.  Located in the Adirondack Park of Northern New York, the LPCA consistently presents arts of the highest caliber in music, dance and theatre performances, film exhibitions and visual arts presentations. 

In addition, the Arts Center provides special arts-in education programs, workshops and residencies for aspiring and renowned artists.

The Arts Center is the home of the Lake Placid School of Ballet, LPCA Children's Theatre, Community Theatre Players, as well as the Summer home of the Lake Placid Sinfonietta.
