This workshop will focus on silhouetting the scene against the brightly lighted sky reflecting on the water. Cynthia says: "Unlike most of my workshops we will quickly block in the darks and pull up the lights. We will use both brush & palette knife." *For those who do not regularly use a palette knife at all, this will be a great opportunity to try one out to help carve in the boats and posts!*
- Canvas, panel or heavy watercolor paper (if using water-based medium) - suggested sizes: I recommend a 16x20 surface though a smaller surface will work if you want to minimize detail
- Suggested paint colors for oils, acrylics, gouache: Titanium white, prussian blue or thalo blue, purple dioxizine, cobalt blue or ultramarine, alizarin permanent, cadmium red medium, cad orange, lemon yellow or cad yellow light (Note: If using acrylics, Cynthia suggests having some gesso on hand if your brand of white is not very opaque)
- Brushes: #5, 9, 12, or whatever you are used to
- Palette Knives: RGM #46 and/or #50 or equivalent shape in other brands.
Reminder - This painting and the sole use of it are the property of Cynthia Rosen and may not be reproduced without permission. Paintings done in this workshop are for study purpose only and should not be sold or represented as the participant's original work.
