STUDENT PLACEMENT, EVALUATION & OBSERVATIONS

LPSD bases its levels on technique, not age. For the 2018-2019 school year students will be placed by Alice Schonbek prior to registration. New students to the school will be placed based on technique shown during the first classes taken.

Parents are not allowed to observe class other than during assigned observation weeks. Teachers will NOT talk to parents about their student's performance immediately before or after a class. If you need to speak to someone about your student's performance, we can schedule a call/meeting.

Students will be formally evaluated at the end of the school year. This could include an ABT exam in some cases. In addition, we will schedule times during the school year for meetings with Tiffany and David or LPSD teachers where these things can be discussed.

Class Cancellations & Make-up Classes

If class is cancelled due to weather, notification will be sent by 2 PM through Facebook and email. Those without internet access can call 518.523.2512 and select 2 for information.

Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes. If an absence is necessary, please notify someone in the Administrative Office so they can let the instructors know. Students then have the remainder of the session to make up any absence. A make-up class schedule will be posted outside each of the studios.

No make-ups shall be allowed for the four weeks prior to exams and recitals.

Scholarships / Financial Assistance

Limited scholarships and financial assistance are available. Students may submit a letter to the School of Ballet & Dance staff expressing their desires to study dance and evidence of financial need.
