The Joy of Painting

A day-long painting workshop with Ingrid Van Slyke.

*Please note that we cannot accommodate walk-ins for this workshop. All participants must register in advance by 4pm, Friday 11/9.*

This day-long painting workshop will embrace both the beginner and more experienced person wanting to further their painting skills. Composition, value, subjects, and color will be explored. Participants will also explore working from photos and plein air. Please bring a brown bag lunch! Appropriate for participants ages 18 and up. 

*Please note: the cost of the workshop includes a $20 material fee. 

About the Instructor: Ingrid Van Slyke

Ingrid exhibits her work nationally and throughout the Northeast. Her pastel works have earned her numerous awards and honors. Including the Cape Cod award given at the Pastel Society of America exhibition in New York City. She is an associate member of the Pastel Society of America a member of the Adirondack Pastel Society and the International Association of Pastel Societies. Ingrid teaches High School art and pastel workshops. She is represented at the Lake Placid Center for the arts Main Street Gallery.


Adult Workshop Refund Policy

  • Contact us at least 6 days before the course date, and we will refund the cost of the workshop minus a 15% enrollment fee.
  • Contact us 5 days or less before the course date (within the week of the course), and we will offer class credit for a future workshop.

Lake Placid Center for the Arts

The Lake Placid Center for the Arts is a year-round performing and visual Arts Facility.  Located in the Adirondack Park of Northern New York, the LPCA consistently presents arts of the highest caliber in music, dance and theatre performances, film exhibitions and visual arts presentations. 

In addition, the Arts Center provides special arts-in education programs, workshops and residencies for aspiring and renowned artists.

The Arts Center is the home of the Lake Placid School of Ballet, LPCA Children's Theatre, Community Theatre Players, as well as the Summer home of the Lake Placid Sinfonietta.
