Explore
the heritage of the intaglio printmaker, utilizing historic concepts
and techniques to influence your approach to contemporary
printmaking. Solarplate printmaking (intaglio) is a highly versatile
and expressive medium. This dynamic process enables the artist to
transform drawings, paintings, collages, vintage images, contemporary
photographs, JPEGs and copier art into high-quality etchings. In this
workshop students will learn to create an image plate using UV light
from the sun with no acids or solvents commonly associated with plate
etching. Enjoy making plates in the sun, developing them with ordinary
tap water, and printing the images with an intaglio press. The focus
will be to utilize the basic tools of the printmaker, develop artistic
creativity, appreciate the simplicity of plate processing, and produce
high-quality artwork. Solarplate printmaking will appeal to artists of
all levels, from beginners to experienced artists of all media.
Students
will learn preliminary arts of flint knapping - the art of flaking
stone into projectile points. This class will help your understanding
of archeology or satisfy your curiosity of prehistory by making your own
arrow or spear point. Students will have the opportunity to make more
than one tool but will have plenty of time and help to make at least
one. Students will be able to go home with supplies and learning
material to continue making more. Students will use safety equipment and
cover any issues such as how to propperly dispose of modern
(reproduction) archaeology refuse so that it will not be mistake for
that from old times. Students will use a diamond scriber to initial and
date our work for the same reason. This is a course that can be
repeated to allow students to progress in their knapping of more
intricate projects such as spear points or eventually knives.
A
non-teaching open studio for beginner to advanced artists. Live models
each night. Work in any media, in an environment where it is possible to
share and critique with other participants or keep your work private,
whichever you prefer.
Join
Diane for this four session drawing class. If doodling in the margins
has been all you have done since that 3rd grade teacher told you that
that was not a tree, then this class is for you. Diane has enabled many
beginners who thought there may have been no hope for their skills to
get to a point where they can make drawings. Everyday objects to funky
still life work - even a couple of figures - this class will wake up the
artist that is in everyone.
Let
your creativity soar and your basket find a form all its own. This
evening workshop exploring paper rush baskets with Caroline Rubino is an
Adirondack favorite. The objective is not to mimic a typical basket
shape, but to experiment with eye-catching twists and turns while
learning the ins and outs of paper rush! Bring some wine along if you
wish and prepare for a fun evening. You’ll leave with a funky homemade
gift and a head full of stories.
Learn
how to make either a 16” day pack basket or a 20” full size pack basket
to use on a hike, in your home as decoration, or to give as a
present.
Learn
the basics of the stain glass copper foil method also known as Tiffany
stained glass. Using copper foil, the edges of glass pieces are wrapped
with adhesive copper tape and soldered together along the adjacent
copper strips. The copper foil technique was invented in the 19th
century, enabling the creation of three-dimensional works (ie. lamps),
in addition to two-dimensional ones (to which the lead came stain glass
method is limited). In this class students will pick a project pattern
and glass, learn to cut and score the glass, learn how to apply copper
foil and how to use a solderer leaving students glowing with pride.
The
ukulele is experiencing a third wave in popularity. Don’t you wish you
too could play this extremely fun & Portable instruments? in this
workshop Mark will get you started with tuning the ukulele, a few simple
chords and some basic stums. You’ll be surprised at the songs you can
play with only 2 or 3 chords! By week 5, students will have covered
playing in other keys, alternate strums and chord inversions.
People
hold on to certain random objects. A lot of times they have
sentimental value. Most of these items are no longer functional in their
current state so why not give them new life in a functional, artistic
way? Bring old, damaged linens and clothing or broken jewelry to this
class and go away with an awesome new purposeful item. Inspiration and
fun is sure to exude in this class!

spirit. We will touch on improv, drama, character energy placement, tool
box warm ups, diction, delivery, stage presence, character study, and
group based activities.

professionally trained and proven instructor/ performer Heidi Little.

workshop is designed for those who wish to take their theatrical skills
to the next level. Shakespeare is respected worldwide as a monologue

growth and skill. In these classes we will choose our individual

character development, diction, tempo, delivery, embodiment, timing,
intensity and flow. FUN!! Instructed by 10-year professionally trained
