After School Workshops
Students may register for up two (2) workshops and may be on the wait-list for a third class. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. All area children are invited to participate! Parents please Drop-off & Pick-up kids promptly! Do not bring friends, we can’t accommodate extra children in our classes. To allow children’s creativity to flow, we ask that parents do not stay in the classroom, however you are welcome to wait in one of the LPCA’s waiting areas!

4 to 6 Clay Creatures Students will sculpt clay and use colorful, kid-friendly glazes to create their own ceramic menagerie. Make sure students bring their imaginations & great animal ideas. Claytime Clothes Required!
4 to 6 Tambourine Time Bowls, beads, glitter, & ribbons will be transformed into the most artful instruments around.
4 to 6 Blowpainting & Sponge Stamping Handmade sponge stamps will meet their match when combined with a fun straw blow-painting technique.
4 to 6 Popsicle BirdhousesPainted popsicle architecture has the birds all a twitter and the whole neighborhood will be tweeting about the peanut butter pinecones made for the inside!
4 to 6 Painted Pots & Plantings Perfect for spring, these pots will be hand painted, decorated for spring, and then lovingly planted.
4 to 6 Sunflower Delight Addition Studio Why wait until the end of summer to enjoy the beauty of sunflowers? Students will explore construction & painting, then top off the projects with the texture of sunflower seeds.
5 to 7 You Light Up My Life Valentine Candle Shade It's not all paper hearts for Valentine's Day at the LPCA. Mood lighting 101: Make a pretty candle shade to light up your valentine décor or as a gift for your special Valentine.
5 to 7 Mardi Gras MasksAt our very own Fat Tuesday celebration, these sparkling masks steal the show!
5 to 7 Splatter Painting & Pollack Kids will start out by learning about Jackson Pollack & see examples of his work. Once inspired, they will take on their own splatter techniques with brushes and string. Definitely Dress for a Mess!
6 to 9 Year of the Rat! It's the Chinese New Year - Celebrate the Year of the Rat! Participants will make "good luck" presents and bake up some orange almond rat cookies for family & friends.
6 to 9 Cool Chair Creatures It's Back - Frogs, Pigs & Bunnies Oh My! Mini Adirondack Chairs will be transformed into furry friends!
6 to 9 Collage & MatisseAn exciting Matisse lesson will be the inspiration for exploring collage, decoupage, composition & color.
6 to 9 Sewing Bee 101 An introduction to the basics of sewing for boys & girls. Working big will be the perfect way for small fingers to learn the ins & outs of sewing a terrific sampler to take home.
6 to 9 Sticky Snakes - Coiled Clay Sticky snakes of clay will swirl together to make a variety of dishes that will be colorfully glazed & fired.
7 to 10 Fancy Star Flowers Flowers of ribbon, folded and woven into beautiful star patterns as fancy as you wish.
7 to 10 Coil Patterned Bowls & Platters Building with coils and beyond. In this class the coil is not just the clay construction method, but they also become the decoration. Finished dishes will be glazed and fired
7 to 10 Explorations in Collage This ongoing collage class will take students' work beyond the basics to discover how exciting it is to transform simple scraps into engaging works of art.
7 to 10 Tye Dyed T-Shirts Bring a white t-shirt and leave with it twisting and exploding with color! Parents will be given directions to set the color in your home washing machines.
8 to 12 Winter Drawing Explorations By learning to see everyday objects, young artists can explore and improve drawing using pens, charcoal & oil pastels. Students will use daily drawing journals and create group stories from everyone's drawings.
8 to 12 Keepsake Ceramic Boxes Clay Construction 101: Students will learn how to make slabs of clay and build them into great boxes they will decorate & glaze. Big or small, these boxes will be keepers!
8 to 12 Pop Art & Andy Warhol A short history of Warhol will inspire colorful pop art portraits. Students should bring a picture of themselves or a favorite toy or stuffed animal as a muse.
8 to 12 Starburst Book Start your own publishing house with this special folding technique to create a book with pages that burst open. Make one for yourself or decorate one for Mom for Mother's Day
8 to 15 Weaving WaysLearn to weave beautiful, textures and patterns on two different looms! Students can create wearable art or wonderful hangings for their room.
8 to 15 Beading Beautiful Bracelets B Not your average bobbles. Students will use a bead loom and other neat techniques to make a bevy of beautiful bracelets.
9 to 12 Victorian Painted Candy Box Learn faux & craft painting techniques to decorate a Victorian candy box you will fill with simple handmade chocolate treats for you or your sweetheart.
9 to 14 Colorful Spring Basket Weave these great multipurpose baskets as a great way to get in the mood for spring or just in time for your Easter celebrations.
9 to 15 Needlefelt Heart Addition Studio Students will design their heart with special felting techniques to transform soft colorful wool into a Valentine filled with sweet smelling herbs.
9 to 15 Creative Journaling...where words are optional Get into the habit of juicing your creativity everyday! Explore the variety of ways to keep an artistic journal using doodles, drawing, painting & collage - words optional. Returning students are encouraged to attend and add to their fall expressions.
10 to 12 Shining Celtic CrossThink green and celebrate the luck of the Irish. Lads & Lassies will make some craft clay & design, roll out & emboss a Celtic Cross in class one. The second class will give students the chance to embellish the cross with paint, mirror tiles & beads.
10 to 15 Whimsical WindchimesStudents will explore ceramic construction while building a wind chime piece by whimsical piece. Glazes and textures will take them beyond function to wonderful wind art.
